Slava - Patron Saint’s Day

We invite you to come to a unique place in Belgrade, Club Legacy "Thank you, Grandma" to be a part of the Slava - traditional Serbian holiday, and therefore a part of our family. In this way, you will enter our home where you will experience real Serbian hospitality. We will share the homemade food prepared for this feast of love and ask a prayer for the well-being of everyone.

This particular program will allow you to see, participate, and above all, feel what it means to be a part of a family in Serbia, a part of the many centuries of tradition.

We will tell you the story about Slava, a unique holiday that makes difference between Serbian and other Orthodox churches. Slava represents the holiday of 'The Small Church', i.e. the family. This holiday was first introduced canonically to Serbs by the first Archbishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church - Saint Sava, in 12th century. The celebration of a particular Saint’s Day has to do with the date on which our ancestors converted to Christianity and were baptised. There is a saying that goes: Whoever celebrates their Slava, the Slava helps them in return.

Every attendant will be introduced to the customs and will take part from the beginning to the very end. Furthermore, you will learn a lot about local culture.

All meat, fruit, rakia (brandy) and wine are homegrown and homemade.

The programme will last up to four hours at the most.

Serbian hospitality is about sharing

Don’t forget that the best travel experience is the one that makes you feel like at home.

"Thank you, Grandma"

Its very name can give you a clue that each piece of furniture, vibrant images,
crackling fire in the fireplace, the sounds of old gramophones suggests comfort, emotion and nostalgia.
